Raymond O’Neal Wheeler, Mineral Wells, TX

Raymond O’Neal Wheeler 74, of Mineral Wells left his steed behind to be with the Lord above on August 12, 2012. He was born a cowboy in Santo, the son of J.C. and Catherine (Gray) Wheeler. He was an iron worker by trade for 38 years but a cowboy at heart. His hands and management talents were responsible for building the first Goodyear Blimp Hangar, and the Coors Barley Plant in Monte Vista, Colorado. His getaway was working with horses and cattle. At a young age he was a jockey for Sebold Ranch, he also rode bulls and saddle bronc, and as he was getting a little older he took up roping. He could break and train just about any colt there was, but had his fair share of bumps and bruises that went along with the cowboy life. Raymond was a loving father and great teacher; he taught his children everything he knew about life and caring for livestock. He leaves behind, sons, Gary Wheeler, Shawn Wheeler and Justin Schroeder; daughters, Robin Tuggle, Beverly Mullen and Shannon Richardson; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Kay Wheeler; 4 nieces and 1 nephew; extended family in Montgomery County, and very special friend and caregiver Patsy Wheeler. He is preceded in death by both parents; son, Jonas Wheeler; sisters, Myrtle Jowers, Martha Wheeler and Lousil Wheeler, brother, Floyd Wheeler; and lifelong best friend Bill Benson. The family will celebrate his life with a private memorial service at a later date.
