Albert Peeks

Albert Deering Peeks passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the age of 73. He was born on January 17, 1946 in Abilene, Texas and moved to Salesville, Texas at the age of one. He graduated from Mineral Wells High School and continued his education thereafter at various institutions of higher education. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. He had a lifelong love of learning and spent many hours in libraries researching topics of interest. Albert had a quick wit and sense of humor and loved to play jokes on family and friends. He was talkative and outgoing, quick to make friends with anyone he met. Family and friendships were held in high esteem by him. He loved being outdoors, surrounded by nature. He was adept at raising and caring for a variety of unusual pets, including a pet raccoon. He was a lifelong member of Salesville Baptist Church and also participated at First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells, as well as other churches. He was a man of great faith and always believed God would provide. He studied the Bible intently and was quick to quote scripture to provide comfort. Albert was the son of the late Myra and Walter Peeks. He is survived by his siblings, Eskel (Sonny) Peeks, Betty Lewallen and Myra Schaper, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Yvonne Johnson. A funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, April 9th at 2:00 PM at Salesville Baptist Church with graveside services following at Salesville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells on Monday, April 8th from 6-8 PM. The family would like to thank everyone who provided care and support for Albert over the years.
