Allan Royce “Bubba” Lusk, Jr., 59, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Bubba was at home, surrounded by his family as he peacefully entered his eternal life. The family will host a visitation on Friday, September 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home and a celebration of life Saturday, September 14th at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church of Mineral Wells.
Bubba was born in Mineral Wells, TX on December 25, 1964, the son of Allan and Teresa Lusk. He was a 1983 graduate of Mineral Wells High School. After a lengthy career with US/Hansen Brick serving as forklift operator, kiln operator, regional and national safety supervisor, he returned to Mineral Wells from his last assignment with US/Hansen Brick in North Carolina, to be closer to family and to start his own business, Bubba & Co. providing local trucking services and construction. He married Kathy Jo Wheeler on October 22, 2002. Thereafter, he founded A J Transport, LLC, an interstate trucking company, that later expanded to include light manufacturing and assembly services for industrial/corporate clients in North Texas and surrounding states, which he operated until his death.
Bubba lived big, loved big and wore a crooked hat. He beamed when he talked about “his blondes” which included Kathy Jo, Whitney, Bailee and Alli Jo. He leaves behind a large community of friends which range from young to old, rich to poor, and all levels of ability. He had a special place in his heart for people with disabilities, and those in need of assistance. He was always ready to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed.
Bubba is survived by his wife, Kathy Jo Lusk; mother, Teresa Lusk, daughter Whitney Martin and husband Chad, daughter Bailee Small and husband Harry; daughter Alli Jo Lusk. He also leaves behind sisters KayLynn Bridges and husband Travis, Kathy Massie and husband Forrest and brother Craig Lusk and wife Rebecca; grandchildren Charlee, Sami, and Carson Martin, Jaylon, Jax, and Niyah Small. He is also survived by a large number of nieces and nephews who will miss their “Uncle Bubba” dearly.
Bubba was preceded in death by his father, Allan Royce Lusk, Sr. and his father-in-law, Floyd Wheeler.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bubba’s name to Backpack Buddies of Mineral Wells or Miracle League of Parker County.
