With great sadness, Annis Kay Hudspeth, age 86, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. She was born on February 2, 1939 in Jacksboro, TX to Glen and Edna Smith. Kay later married Allen V. Hudspeth, Jr. on May 14, 1971 at which time they chose to remain in Mineral Wells, TX to raise their children. Kay was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend who touched the lives of many in the community.
The belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior was a great comfort for Kay. She loved listening to the gospels sung by Elvis Presley. She was happiest when she could attend church and prepare Sunday dinner for family. Afterwards, the family would sit outside to sing hymns. When the singing ended, she would quote from the book of Psalms and was happy to have discussions about Jesus and prayed for everyone.
Kay spent over 35 years dedicating her life to her career at The City National Bank working her way up to Vice President. She led by example and was well known and admired. There was never a job too small or too large that she could not tackle.
Thanksgiving and Christmas were her favorite holidays. She would spend the evening before each holiday baking pies and making divinity, then she would get up and make a wonderful holiday meal. During the weeks before Christmas, she and Allen would have an elaborate plan to decorate the outside of the house. They spent hours perfecting and creating their design and won Mineral Wells’ most decorated house for the southeast section of town.
Kay was an adventurous traveler and loved going to Lake Mineral Wells for a camping weekend and going on road trips and taking cruises with family. She took every opportunity to venture out to explore areas all over the U.S. and the Caribbean.
A farm girl at heart, gardening was one of her favorite passions. Annis Kay will be forever remembered for her beautiful blue eyes, her laughter, caring heart, and her love of family and friends. She was a strong and independent woman whom we will miss every day. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate her life and find comfort in that she is in heaven watching over us.
The family would like to thank all the health care professionals for their great care in the last years of her life, especially the ones that treated her like she was their mom and friend.
She is survived by her children, Connie Krynicki, Kim Sund and husband (Gene), Jerry Locker, Theresa McCachran, Michael Hudspeth, Lisa Sagona and husband (Jimmy) and Eric (Ricky) Hudspeth, eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Allen Hudspeth, Jr., her parents, Glen and Edna, her brother, Ronald, and a grandson, Shaun.
