Arnold Garrett passed away on July 17, 2025 in Millsap, TX after a long and courageous battle with cancer and other illnesses. His funeral services will be handled by Baum-Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells, TX. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 10 am at the Millsap Baptist Church with graveside immediately following at Fairview Cemetery in Millsap, TX.
Arnold was born in Weatherford, TX on April 23, 1945 to Dee and Katie Garrett. He graduated from Millsap High School in 1965. Following graduation, he was employed with Cantex in Mineral Wells, TX before being drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. Arnold was deployed to Germany where he worked as part of the missile battalion. Following his enlistment, he returned to Cantex where he worked as an electrician.
Arnold married Sherry Maurene Huddleston on April 8, 1971 in Mineral Wells, TX. They enjoyed 54 wonderful years together. Together they raised two boys, Chris and Jason, and lived in Millsap their entire married life. Arnold loved spending time with his family, traveling, fishing, camping and was always eager to play a competitive game of dominoes.
He was an active volunteer in the Millsap Fire Department for over 50 years, receiving Parker County Fireman of the Year in 1998, Millsap Fireman of the Year in 1982, 1991, 1992. Arnold spent his career serving others, working for several community water supply corporations, including North Rural Water Supply Corporation, Parker County Special Utilities District, and retiring from Millsap Water Supply Corporation in 2013 after 26 years. Arnold also owned and operated Arnold’s Construction for many years before beginning a partnership, Arnold and Son Construction, with his son Jason.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sherry, son Chris and wife Tomina of Denver, Colorado, son Jason and wife Jennifer of Millsap, TX, wonderful in laws, cousins, numerous nieces and nephews and many long-time friends. He will be missed by many.
