Aubrey Richard Worsham, 94 years old, passed away March 30, 2024, at his home at Possum Kingdom Lake surrounded by his family. He was born March 18, 1930, to Freddy R. and Corrilee Worsham in Lubbock County, Texas and grew up in Wolfforth, Texas. He graduated from Friendship High School in Wolfforth, where he met his first love, Enola Bradford Worsham who preceded him in death July 2, 1982. Aubrey wore many hats in his long lifetime. He served nine years in the Army Reserve with the 269th Engineering Company. He was a helicopter pilot for his helicopter spraying service in Hurlwood, Texas where Aubrey and his family lived before moving to Dumas, in the Panhandle, where he farmed. Aubrey was a farmer and farmed in the south plains and panhandle areas. 

In 1971, Aubrey and his family moved to Possum Kingdom Lake where he became owner/operator of Rainbow Lodge and Old Smokey Restaurant where he cooked the best smoked barbeque in Texas. Aubrey lived a life of service and always answered the call. He was a member of the Possum Kingdom Lake Fire Department for over 40 years. In 1972, 73, and 74, and again in 1990 and 91 Aubrey was elected the Fire Chief. As a member of the fire department, he saw a need for the east side of the lake to have an ambulance on the lake for the PK community. In 1975, He started working in the first totally volunteer ambulance and MICU ambulance service in the State of Texas. He took two years of training and many man hours to get this accomplished. Aubrey was appointed to and served on the State Ambulance Provider Committee in Austin. He was the liaison between the volunteer ambulance services and the legislature. From 1976 to 1991, Aubrey served on the Palo Pinto County Fire District Board and served as secretary for five of those years. He served as the Civil Defense Coordinator for the lake area. He served on the Board for the PK Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Service which was created for the purpose of rebuilding the fire and ambulance department after a tornado damaged the building and the equipment in 1989.

 From 1988 to 1991, Aubrey was owner/ operator of Big Tex Pork Skins in Graford. In 1991 he married the love of his life, Bobbie Earl Paxston and they were married for 24 years when Bobbie passed away July 3, 2015. Together, they catered many events serving his delicious smoked barbeque and fried fish. They loved traveling and southern gospel music. They also loved their church, and both served in several different areas. In April 2001, Aubrey was appointed to fill the vacancy of Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace and in 2002 he was elected to that position where he served until December 2006. Aubrey has always had a kind heart and would help anyone if he could. He has impacted many lives in the community. 

Aubrey was preceded in death by his parents, Freddy and Corrilee Worsham; by both his wives Enola and Bobbie Worsham; by his older brother, Jonas and his wife Martha; sister-in-law, Wilma Worsham; and son-in-law Richard (Cricket) Wallace. Aubrey is survived by his daughters, Sheila Wallace, LaTonda Coleman and husband Eric, Tina Brewer; by son, Eddie Paxston and wife Angela (Angie); grandchildren, Timothy Wallace, Mandy Taylor, Chris Paxston and wife Kaci, Frances Wampler and husband Kevin, and Richard Coleman; great-grandchildren, Peyton Wallace and Lucky Taylor, Brynn and Bristol Paxston, Kage, Ronin, and Brody Wampler; great-great-grandchildren, Attrella, Prudence, and Ruby Wallace, Kaden and Ethan Lameire, and Landon Coleman. He is also survived by an incredibly special (adopted son), Mike Herndon and wife Jamie; his brother, Charles Worsham; nephew, Richard Worsham; nieces Darla Worsham and Jean Stayton and husband Randle. Also, a host of friends and church family. 

The Pallbearers will be Billy Martin, Tommy Nicholas, Matt Sutton, Ricky Williams, Wes Bloxham and Nate Trammell. Honorary Pallbearers are Chris Paxton, Mike Herndon, Richard Coleman, and Danny Davis. 

Services will be Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church at Possum Kingdom Lake. Visitation will be on Wednesday April 4, 2024, starting at 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Baum Carlock Baumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells, Texas. Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church at Possum Kingdom.
