Bettie Blackburn

Bettie Jean Blackburn, 92, passed away May 28, 2018 in Mineral Wells. She was born June 17, 1925 in Muskogee, Oklahoma the daughter of Claude and Frieda Gulley Deming. She married Robert L. Blackburn on January 2, 1943 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She was a longtime resident of Mineral Wells and a member of 11th Avenue Church. She graduated from the LVN Nurse program of MWISD in 1972. She worked as a nurse for Dr. O'Quinn and Dr. Boya for many years. She was a volunteer in the PPGH Auxiliary and at the Boyce Ditto Public library for numerous years. Graveside services will be 2 PM Saturday, June 2, 2018 at McKnight Cemetery in Cushing. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Tim Blackburn of Plano, Tracy and Patti Blackburn of Spring, Stacy and Lori Blackburn of Mineral Wells, daughter-in-law: Linda Blackburn, grandchildren: Cash, Ashley, Josh, Logan, Miranda, and Nicholas, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Jack Deming, her husband on January 1, 2001, and sons: Barry and Bob Blackburn. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in her memory.
