Betty Marcilea Puckett

April 25, 1931 — June 25, 2023

Please join us as we celebrate the life and mourn the passing of Betty Marcilea Puckett. Betty was born April 25th, 1931 to John Roscoe and Audrey Gay Perry Price in Bald Knob, Boone County, WV. She passed away June 25, 2023 peacefully at home in Santo, TX surrounded by loved ones at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, James Ray Sloan; brothers, Boris, Curtis, John R., Connie, and Ferris Price and Gary Dempsey; sisters, Kathy Belcher, Iris Price and Audrey Boggs. 

Betty is survived by husband, Phil Puckett; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Larry Richeson of Granbury, TX; son, Greg Sloan of Mineral Wells, TX; and daughter, Carol Stephens of Santo, TX. She is also survived by brother, Charlie Price of Wharton, WV; sisters, Darlene Bailey also of Wharton and Shirley Broom of White Sulphur Springs, WV; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was also survived by her constant fur baby, Bruce. 

Betty had a vast work history from stay-at-home mom, raising 3 children to working at the Baker Hotel, Electra, Edo-Air, General Dynamics, and a few restaurants including Joe’s Cafe and the Sky Line Motel where she met her husband Phil. Betty and Phil were married August 29th, 1975 and remained so until her death. Betty liked working in the garden, cooking for anyone who needed fed, and rarely passed up a good junk sale. She was also a wonderful storyteller, keeping her friends and family captivated by stories of her growing up in the Appalachian Mountains. During vacations she often returned to those mountain peaks of her childhood, but also enjoyed the beaches of Mexico. Her warm nature and generous spririt will truly be missed. 

Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 30, 2023 at Santo North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to a local charity of your choice.
