Billy J. Gordon

November 18, 1953 — December 27, 2021

Billy J. Gordon (68) of Cool, Texas passed away on Monday, the 27th of December 2021, with family gathered around him.

He was a member of Countryside Baptist Church in Mineral Wells, Texas and was a graduate of Millsap High School. He lived in Cool, Texas for much of his life. Billy was a devoted fan of Jesus Christ, the Dallas Cowboys, and Old Westerns.

Billy was employed by ITW and Larco Heating and Air Conditioning for more than thirty collective years prior to graduating into blessed retirement in 2021.

Everyone who knew Billy would say he gave with his whole heart and loved unconditionally. He never met a stranger and, at some point in the conversation, you could tell just how much he loved The Lord.

Billy was preceded in death by his father and stepmother: William “Bill” and Patsy Gordon of San Antonio, Texas; his brother James “Jimmy” Gordon of Roscommon, Michigan; his maternal grandparents JB and Artilia McMurrey (aka: Mr and Mrs Mac) of Mineral Wells, Texas.

He is survived by his beloved family: mother, Joyce Mitchell of Whitt, Texas; daughter and son-in-Law, Terri and Jason Tilly of Port Lavaca and their children, Alyssa and Hunter of Port Lavaca, Texas, and Jessica and Derick Dowhaniuk of Dickinson, North Dakota; son and daughter-in-Law, William and Tamara Gordon of Boyd, Texas, and their daughter Jocelynn of Santo, Texas. Brother and sister-in-law, John and Michel Mitchell of Lyons, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Ralph Torres of Vero Beach, Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Jeannie and Brian Leatherman of Garner, Texas; half-siblings, Debra, Karen and Edwin Gordon of San Antonio, Texas. Billy had nieces and nephews aplenty of whom he loved dearly and had immense pride in.

Billy requested a celebration of his life instead of customary funeral service. The Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Garner Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to the Parker County Animal Shelter or the SPCA in Billy’s name.
