Brenda Lee Mendoza

Our beloved Brenda Lee Mendoza, 55, passed away peacefully in her Mineral Wells home in the late evening of Tuesday, September 10th, 2024, of natural causes due to the effects of diabetes.

A Catholic mass burial is set for 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Chapel, 108 NW 4th Ave., Mineral Wells. Followed by interment: Woodland Park Cemetery, Mineral Wells. Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Visitation: 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, September 15, 2024, At Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home, 302 W Hubbard St., Mineral Wells.

Brenda was born March 15, 1969, the middle sister of two sisters and one brother, to Johnny and Mary Mendoza. She grew up and has lived in Mineral Wells all her life. She had lived in her childhood home for the last 24 years where she found comfort in a home full of her childhood memories. Although Brenda never had any children of her own, she was Godmother to many and loved them like her own.

Brenda devoted her professional life to Cornerstone Headstart for 22 years. She was a very talented teacher with an ability to win her little audience’s attention every time. She then advanced to be a Family Advocate where she poured her heart and soul into helping families join the Headstart program and lead them to a better life. She always felt she was serving her community through her career.

She approached her job and all other areas of her life with one constant, a love for Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church all of her life. She was a good steward of the Lord by serving her church as a catechist for many years of different grades. One could always depend on Brenda to bring the Holy Spirit in prayer to all who needed Him, whether young or old. She was a powerful prayer warrior and had a significant impact on her family and friends.

Her favorite pastime was crocheting and making decorated cookies all while listening to her favorite praise music. Crocheting was her way of relaxing and could sit for hours praying and working her hands through the yarn. She would share them with charities or with anyone who wanted one. It was always an honor to receive one of her cookie boxes full of treats. She just wanted those around her to feel special and important.

Brenda is survived by her sister, Cynthia and husband Frank Williams, her sister Melinda and husband Leonard Crawford, sister-in-law Kim Mendoza, nephews Nathan and Ryan Crawford, Cory Mendoza, her nieces Mikaela and her husband James Bettis and their children Xavier and Ja’Kobe Bettis, Megan and her husband Erick Ochoa and their children Haleigh and Ezekiel Ochoa, Lindsay and Kristen Mendoza, Jacque and her husband Rudy Chaidez and their children Julian, Julissa, Naraiah, Annmarie, Merissa, and Noel Chaidez. She is preceded in death by her parents Johnny and Mary Mendoza, brother Johnny Mendoza Jr., nephew Brandon Mendoza, and grandnephew Noah Ochoa.
