Bruce Edward Griffith, Sr.

Bruce Edward Griffith, Sr., 74, of Millsap, Tx passed away in the comfort of his home with his wife Lisa and Sister-in-Law Carolyn Gay by his side on Thursday, June 6th, 2024.

Bruce was born in Quanah, Tx on November 9th, 1949.  He attended Vernon High School and joined the United States Army in 1969.  He proudly served in the 10th Brigade boat company as a watercraft operator through the Mahjong River during the Vietnam war.

Bruce is the son of Betty and the late Joe Ermis of Vernon, Tx, and the late Edward and Mary Jo Griffith of Boswell, OK. He married Lisa Marie in 1984 and they spent 40 years happily married.  They enjoyed raising their kids and loved the grandkids. Bruce was a driver for Ranch Style Beans and was a million-mile driver for Fort Worth Carrier before retiring in 2008.

Bruce was a faithful member and Deacon at Beulah Baptist Church in Millsap, Tx.  He loved his church family and was a dedicated servant of Christ. Bruce could always be found mowing the church yard, serving at the Center of Hope or cooking for church festivals. Bruce was a funny, loving, and caring family man.  He loved hunting and fishing. He was a great chef and grill master. Bruce was never short on jokes or ways to make you laugh. He never met a stranger. His devotion to Christ and the dedication as a loving husband and father served as the perfect example of a man. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Bruce Edward Griffith Sr. is survived by his wife Lisa Griffith of Millsap, Tx; his mother, Betty Ermis of Vernon, Tx; sisters Cecelia (Curtis) Chism of Vernon, Tx, Anne (Steve) Cochran of Duncan, OK, Jeanette Robinson of Boswell, OK; brothers Mike (Pam) Griffith of Kingston, OK and Ish Web of Bowell, Ok.  Sisters-in-law Linda Jo Goodman of Newark, Tx; Carolyn Gay Hill of Millsap, Tx; brother-in-law James (Joellen) Thomas of Sherman, Tx.  He is survived by his children Kevin (Jennifer) Griffith of Watauga, Tx; daughter Christina (Carl) Lamb of Weatherford, Tx; Bruce Jr. (Margaret) Griffith of Mineral Wells, Tx. Grandchildren Colton Griffith and Blake Scharnhorst; Crysta Lamb, Cade (Cassidy) Lamb, Carly Jo (Chris) Smithwick; Taylor (Bryson) Candelaria, Kaitlyn Griffith, and Macy Griffith. Great-grandsons Jonathyn Lamb and Kayson Lamb and one great-granddaughter expected in November. He is survived by many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Griffith; stepmother Mary Jo Griffith; stepfather Joe Ermis; sister Pam Web.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Bruce touched are welcome to join us at the visitation Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Baum Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home and funeral 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Beulah Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Poe Prairie Cemetery.
