Carlos Juarez Pena

February 10, 1950 — August 12, 2021

Carlos Juarez Pena was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 12, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Carlos loved life and people. He especially loved his family and friends. He was a giver. Everywhere he went he spread joy and had this infectious smile that was unforgettable. You never left his presence feeling unwelcomed. He was never too busy to help another bear his load and he never met a stranger. Carlos loved to tell stories about his life and make people laugh. He made it a point to see everyone it did not matter how far. There was not a place on earth he would not travel to see his family and friends; around the corner or a million miles away. If there was an event you could count on him to be there and if there was dancing involved you were definitely going to have a dance partner.

Carlos was born and raised in Kingsville, Texas. He started learning how to work at a young age and working became a way of life. He said at a young age he knew in his heart he could always do better and he worked towards those goals. He attended Job Corps in San Marcos, Texas 1967-1968 where he obtained a diploma in welding. He worked as a welder for 48 years; then retired. He quickly realized retirement was not for him and continued to work. He started a little lawn service where he took pride working and making people's yards look nice. He always took the extra time to do the job right.

Most of all his greatest accomplishments in life were being a loving husband, life partner, son, dad, brother, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend.

He was young at heart and motivated by love for his family. He left a legacy of love and a true example of commitment. He loved "BIG TIME!" as he would say.

Carlos was preceded in death by his wife, Francesca Pena; parents, Benjamin and Inez Pena Sr.; siblings, Oscar Pena, Roy (Gloria) Pena, Pedro Garza, Diana Buentello, Manuela Garza.

Survivors include his love and life partner, Shirley Jackson; children, Dalila Canales (Abraham), Delia Garza (Terry), Adrian Garza, Sr. (Jennifer), Aldo Garza, Carlos Pena, Jr. (Lori), Anna Martinez (Selestino “Sal”), and Champayne Jackson; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; mother, Maria; siblings, Benjamin (Bootsie) Pena, Jr., Alma Taylor, Ruben Pena, Rosie Andrado, Angel Pena, Albert Pena (Mary), Martha Mayorga, Janie Vasquez (Sonny); numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
