Carol Hopkins

b. February 1, 1942

Carol Hopkins was a loving wife, mother, and sister, a caring friend, a talented horsewoman, a generous teacher, and a devoted disciple. All of our lives were made richer by her presence. Carol Lee Hopkins was born February 1, 1942 in Mineral Wells, Texas. She was the daughter of Mace Lamar Lee and Ed Lee and granddaughter of Josephine and Sam Lee, and Wallace Lamar and Mary Elizabeth Buie Lamar. Carol married Michael H. Hopkins on December 21,1995 in Miami Beach, Florida. They recently joyously celebrated their 20th anniversary. Carol was previously married to Carl Hartt. Together they had three sons, Russell Lee Hartt, Stephen Lamar Hartt, and Bradley Marshall Hartt. Carol was a member of Mineral Wells High School class of 1960. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Texas and a master's degree from Tarleton State University. While in high school, Carol was a majorette, Rodeo Queen, and class beauty many times. Carol had a career as an elementary school classroom and physical education teacher and was an energetic realtor. She taught local aerobics classes for many years and was an avid, accomplished, award-winning cutting horsewoman. But bare facts don't do anyone's life justice - least of all Carol's. She was a woman of gentle warmth, boundless generosity, deep concern, and loving spirit. When you talked to her, she listened, and she cared what you had to say. Carol also had a strong faith in God that not only brought wisdom but great comfort to her friends and family. The results of her faith were evident in the lives around her that were changed by her prayers. These answered prayers will bless our lives for generations to come. There is no greater woman than a Psalms 31 woman. Carol was preceded in death by her mother Mace Lee in 1985, her father Ed Lee in 1991, and stepdaughter Lisa Hopkins in 2002. Carol is survived by her husband, Michael; her sons, Russ, Stephen and his wife Monica of Aledo, Bradley and his wife Kim of Willow Park; and her stepson Blaine Hopkins of New York; her sister and brother-in-law Neda Lee and Jim Vines of Mineral Wells; five grandchildren: Blake Hartt and wife Katy, Mac Hartt, Karson Hartt, Macee Hartt and Marshall Hartt; and two nephews, Brett and David Lester. Services for Carol Lee Hopkins of Mineral Wells will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2016 at The First Christian Church, Mineral Wells. Rev. Pam Holt will officiate assisted by Pastor Ken Hall. Please visit carol-hopkins.forevermissed.com to remember and celebrate Carol's life.
