Caron Shifflett

May 21, 1949 — April 15, 2021

Caron was born on May 21, 1949 to Jack and Lavell McCoy in Mineral Wells. She peacefully gained her wings to heaven at 6:05 am on Thursday April 15, 2021 at her home, which was Palo Pinto Nursing and Rehab where she had been a resident for the last 6 years. She fought a 4 year battle on dialysis with kidney disease. Several times her family wanted to take her to their home to take care of her, but each time she would put up a fuss and tell them she was home. Prior to this she lived across the street from First Christian Church. She was a team member for the church food pantry when it was in operation from 2010 to 2014  and a member of the church. She absolutely loved serving in this job. She loved the Lord and when her health allowed she was always at church.

She absolutely loved the people she was surrounded by daily and doing all the fun activities provided by the staff. Lacie McCloud always made sure Caron was included even if it wasn't  at the same time as the other residents due to Caron's dialysis schedule. She always had a smile and loved her snacks. She would call Shawna and say. "I have a favor to ask ya" I would say ok what's that. She would ask "could you order us a pizza and don't forget my salad." I would say absolutely. I have to tell ya a couple times I got busy and forgot and she would call about 30 min after delivery time was supposed to be and say "our pizza hasn't gotten here" I would have to apologize and order it really fast. She would say "its ok I know your busy we won't starve. "

There is so many things we could write about. One memory that her cousin Pat sent was her love of making chewing gum wrapper chains. She loved to use the juicy fruit wrapper's. As a child I remember asking for chewing gum just so I could watch her do this. She tried to teach me many times but I could never get it.

Caron was a patient, loving, compassionate caring person. Would do anything for anyone. She never met a stranger and could always lift your spirit no matter what kind of day your were having. She loved her family and she loved kids.

One of the biggest things we are gonna miss are those 6:30 or 7am Birthday phone calls for those of us who were fortunate enough to get them.
