b. September 25, 1927

Charles Edwin Edwards, born September 25, 1927 in Palo Pinto County, Texas passed away on October 4th, 2011. In addition to being a dedicated husband and father, Charlie's occupation for many years was Quality Control at PECO from which he retired in 1989. Charlie served in the US Air Force for 4 years and the Air Force Reserves for 8 years. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife Velma Marie Teddlie Edwards, his parents William Artra and Gladys Edwards, a son Charles Leonard Edwards, a brother William Artra Jr. and sisters Lois Marie Chandler, Vera Nell Handy, and a grandson Jeremy Wayne Perry. He is survived by his son David Michael Edwards and wife Kathy of Haltom City, son Charles Allen Edwards and wife Royleen of Santo, daughter Peggy Edwards Bridges and husband Steven of Forney, daughter Annette Edwards McClendon and husband Roy of Whitt. He is also survived by his brothers, Arthur Glen Edwards, Ronald Dean Edwards, Johnny Duane Edwards and sister Linda Muriel Gilbert, grandchildren: Crystal Buck, Jeff Gardner, Lindsay Spencer, John Edwards, Blaine Edwards, Mori Walker, Jason Perry, Julie Steen, Shelbi McClendon, Cameron McClendon and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Charlie was a loving husband, father and PaPa (Grandpa). He was also a faithful member of the Santo Church of Christ for over 50 years. He enjoyed teaching Sunday school, leading singing at church and was an avid fisherman. Charlie served as a role model in the community and was well known as a man of integrity who never failed to lend a helping hand to those who called upon him. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, October 6th, between 5:00 and 7:00 pm at the Santo Church of Christ and the funeral service will be at the Santo Church of Christ on Friday, October 7th at 10:00 am. Flowers may be sent to the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells or donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Medina Children's Home at 21300 State Highway 16 North Medina, TX 78055 in his memory.
