Charles R. Richardson

Charles R. Richardson went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 19, 2020. He was born September 24, 1945, in Graham, to George F. and Mozelle Hamby Richardson. He was raised mostly in Palo Pinto County. He went to school at Brad and Strawn from there he joined the Navy and served for 4 years, with 9 months in Vietnam. Charles met, the love of his life, Barbara Lyon February of 1970 in Graford. They were married on June 26, 1970 in the home where she was raised near Graford. Charles and Barbara had 2 sons together Gary and Russell.

Charles loved old western movies (John Wayne was his favorite actor) and the golden oldies, old western, and gospel music. He also enjoyed to travel and eat out. He loved to spend time with family and to watch his grandchildren play their sports. Charles worked for Brazos River Gas Company (later called Southern Union Gas Company), Simm’s Lumber Company, then for Palo Pinto ISD driving a school bus and maintenance until his retirement in 2010.

Charles is survived by his wife of 50 ½ years: Barbara Richardson; sons: Gary (Shannon) Richardson, Russell (April) Richardson; Grandchildren: Ashley (Brady) Ruddy, Rebecca (Riley) Woodruff, Maddison (Greyson) Parker, Brigham and Kennedy Richardson; great-grandchildren: Klay, Khloe, and Kaleb Ruddy; sisters: Joeann Swinney and Bertha Tucker; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by a loving grandson: Tyler Richardson; parents; 3 brothers; 1 sister; niece and nephew; and brothers-in-law.

Memorial services will be 11 AM Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Rock Creek Road Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Rock Creek Rd. Baptist Church, 698 Rock Creek Rd., Mineral Wells, TX 76067, or www.loveshriners.org , or www.cancercare.org , in Charles’s name.
