Donnie Ray Lemons

May 13, 1961 — August 16, 2023

Donnie Lemons finished his earthly assignment and began his heavenly adventure on August 16, 2023, after a well-fought battle with cancer.

Donnie Ray Lemons was born May 13, 1961, in Levelland, Texas, to LT “Short” and Billie Lemons.

He grew up in the rural area of West Texas where he learned how to farm from his father on their family land. Donnie accepted Jesus as his Savior and friend at the age of 10. Everyone who knew Donnie knew of his deep love for the Lord by the way it worked its way into everything he did.

Donnie married Darla Fay, as he lovingly referred to her, on December 4, 1982 and they began their life-long journey together.

Donnie worked in many professions ranging from photography to shape charges. Though not in the typical sense, Donnie remained a farmer all of his life. No matter what job he found himself in, he was always planting, watering, tilling, or harvesting ground of some sort. Donnie remained faithful to tend to whatever the Lord put in front of him, from his authentic care for people to his passion for knife-throwing. Donnie’s childlike joy and curiosity combined with a humble wisdom drew people to him, and he in turn pointed them to Jesus.

Donnie was an elder at Well of Life Church for 24 years.

Donnie adored his family, and most of all, his grandkids. He was frequently seen holding a grandchild while he worked or served.

He is preceded in death by his father, Short, mother, Billie, and brother, Dale.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Darla; his children: Nik and wife, Alexis, Brandin and wife, Naomi, Shane and partner, Meagon Turner, adopted daughter, Irez Reyes, and partner, Alex Cuero, his eleven grandchildren, siblings: Dennis and wife, Donna, Ricky and wife, Lana, Treva and husband, Pat, sister-in-law, Jan, and numerous extended family members and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at Well of Life Church, Mineral Wells, Texas, on Saturday, September 23, at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for funds to be donated to the Well of Life missions funds as sharing God’s love across the world was always one of Donnie’s passions.
