Dorothy Coez Spurlock passed away August 27, 2026 in Mineral Wells. She was born October 17, 1929 in Haskell, Tx.
Dorothy worked as a Secretary of Travis Elementary and Houston Elementary of Mineral Wells ISD for many years.
She loved sewing, quilting and fabric. Dorothy was still sewing until her death and enjoyed giving her family gifts she had sewn. She also loved going to thrift shops, looking for depression glasses and dishes, with her family. She enjoyed camping and being outside.
Dorothy loved her family fiercely. Her home was always open to family, friends, and those who needed a little help. She had the kindest heart to all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Harold Spurlock; her sons, Mike Spurlock, Allan Spurlock, Ricky Spurlock, and Sammy Spurlock; her parents, Samuel and Dorothy Putman; and her siblings, Buddy Putman, Faye Smith, Billy Putman, Betty Mahaffey.
Survivors include her youngest son, Thomas Spurlock and wife Stacy; daughter-in-law, Becky Spurlock, wife of Sammy Spurlock; grandchildren, John Spurlock and wife Ticima, Michael Keith Spurlock and wife Dusty, Jeremy Spurlock and wife Rachel, Shelley Spurlock, Zach Spurlock, Micah Spurlock, Raina Mullen, Brandon Williamson, special German grandson Volker Neef; 24 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; 1 great-great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. Dorothy also leaves behind many other kids who called her grandma along the way.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2026 at Southside Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Holders Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Beyond Faith Hospice.
