Dr. Barry Lee Beaty, D.O.

Dr. Barry L. Beaty, D.O. was born on July 11, 1950, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Army Chief Warrant Officer Lester C. Beaty and Lucille Clancey Beaty. He went peacefully into the presence of his Lord on February 19th, 2024. Dr. Beaty grew up in a military home and lived in many places.  He lived in Germany, Japan, Ethiopia, and numerous Army bases around the nation including Ft. Wolters in Mineral Wells. In 1964 Lester retired from the Army and moved to his farm in Lone Camp. The Beaty family settled in the New Hope Community in 1876 and have maintained a presence since their arrival.

Dr. Beaty attended and graduated from Santo High School in 1968. Following high school graduation, he attended Tarleton State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Upon graduating from Tarleton State University, he attended Texas A&M University where he earned his Master of Science Degree. His master’s degree opened the doors to attending the Texas College of Osteopathic Medical School in Fort Worth. He became a doctor of osteopathy in 1979. He practiced for almost 50 years. He strongly believed that illnesses and diseases should not just be managed but cured.

Dr. Beaty and the love of his life Cindy Sammons-Beaty enjoyed spending every day of their lives together, working, traveling, cooking, and spending time at the farm in Lone Camp. He loved to garden and keep up with politics. In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Beaty was a Master Scuba Diver and instructor, a third degree blackbelt in aikido and was a licensed, multi-engine commercial/instrument rated pilot. He was a man of deep Christian faith. Dr. Beaty was a generous donor to ministries that he believed in and helped innumerable patients who could not afford care.

Dr. Beaty is survived by his wife, Cindy Sammons-Beaty, his first cousins Lynda Beaty of Oklahoma City, OK and Rev. Dr Tom Beaty and his wife Cindy of Palo Pinto, Tx and numerous second cousins and friends. He will be missed; he was truly one-of-a-kind.
