Elsie Lou Hodges Herring, 93, of Granbury, formerly Mineral Wells, passed away on January 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of deep love for her family, steadfast faith in Jesus, contagious joy, and genuine compassion for others. Elsie was born on May 23, 1932, in Electra, Texas, to Horace Greeley Hodges and Carrie Virginia Throckmorton Hodges. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband-Robert Dee Herring, her sister-Shirley Hodges Jackson, and grandchild-baby Kandice Lyn Telarico. Elsie devoted her life to Jesus. She taught Sunday School Classes for various ages from the time she was 17. She faithfully served as the music director’s and deacon’s wife at Immanuel Baptist Church for most of her adult life. She loved the Lord and leaves a legacy of people whose lives she influenced through her Christ-centered daily living. Elsie was a devoted wife to Robert Dee Herring for 69 years. She managed Elliott and Waldron Abstract and Title company for many years, even coming back three times after retiring. Elsie loved her family. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Rhonda Herring and Denise Sellers; her devoted grandchildren Robert, and wife Michelle; Erika, Matt, Angela, and husband Joshua; Evan, and wife Lauren; her devoted great-grandchildren Kaylee, and husband Alvyn; Colten, Declan, Aly, Katie, Mia, Ben, and Everly; her devoted great-great-grandchild Nova; her sisters Glenda Jaeger, Barbara Skipworth, and Phyllis Nall; nieces Debbye, Starla, Cherene, Sonia, Sheri, and Kara, and nephews Mike, Steve, Brian, and John. Elsie lived her life as a shining example of Christ to everyone she met. She was loved by all and spread the love of Jesus to everyone. She was generous, kind, and will be severely missed by all those she leaves behind. She loved Jesus deeply and lived her faith daily. Elsie will be remembered as a faithful servant of Jesus, a loving wife and mother, a proud grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and a woman whose life reflected her faith. Her family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Granbury Villa and staff of Solaris Hospice for their loving attention and care, and to the family members and caregivers that cared for her so well. Family visitation will take place on Friday, January 23, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 24, at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church in Mineral Wells.
