Elsie Mae Watkins

Elsie Mae Watkins, 81, passed away June 14, 2026 in Mineral Wells. She was born June 29, 1944, in Salesville, Tx, to Orlin Austin Axtell and Mattie Ruth (Hubbard) Axtell.

Elsie married John David Watkins on June 16, 1960 in Mineral Wells. She wrote short stories and poems. Elsie loved Elvis, reading, writing her many pen pals and friends and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her step-dad, Walter Moss; her sister, Arline Savell; her brother-in-law, Ovet Savell; her half sister, Marie Axtell, nieces, Vonda and Kathy, and her nephew Kenneth.

She is survived by her 3 children: David Watkins, Daniel Watkins and Kelly Robinson; her grandchildren: Jessica, Austin, Eric and wife Jayce, George Anna and Madison; her great grandchildren: Claire, Meleany and Mason; one niece: Vickey Sherley; and one nephew: Joe Whittenburg.

Elsie was laid to rest at Ballew Springs Cemetery.
