Erlinda Gaeta Ortiz

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Erlinda Gaeta Ortiz our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on October 1, 2021. 

 

She left us while sleeping at her home in Millsap, Texas.  She was 95 years old.

 

Born in Eastland, Texas on March 23, 1926 she married Martin Ortiz on January 4, 1942. Predeceased by her devoted husband Martin, brother’s, Gene, Bernie, Victor, Alfonso, Ruben and Gil Gaeta, Son’s, Joe Ortiz and wife Becky, Bernardo Ortiz and Daughter Linda Ortiz Weiss, Grandson, Martin Douglas Weiss, Son in law, Joseph Presser and two Great Great Grandchildren.

 

She is survived by Son’s Tony and wife Heidi Ortiz, Germany, Johnny Ortiz and wife Angie, Spring, Texas, Albert Ortiz and wife Tammy, Porter, Texas, Daughters, Nicolasa Presser, Millsap, Texas, and Dorothy Ortiz Hall and husband Gary, Cool, Texas, Daughter in Law, Kathy Ortiz, Millsap, Texas, along with numerous Grand Children, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.

 

She lived a full life and was a wonderful Mother, Homemaker and worked at the Nazereth Hospital for a number of years, Fort Wolters Army Base in the Mess Hall, Texas Instruments/Corvus, Mineral Wells and was the first woman to retire from Illinois Tool Works (ITW), Mineral Wells.

 

She was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Altar Society, Guadalupanas and helped create the first Jamaica Festival held at the Church, and was a Crusillos.  She was a member of the St. Stephens Quilting Club and Millsap Garden Club.

 

She loved Crocheting, Quilting and Baking and was remembered for her delicious Mexican Food as well as Visiting the Sick and Homebound.

 

Most of all she loved her family and instilled strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

 

Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 2 pm at St. Stephens Catholic Church on Bethel Road in Weatherford, Texas.
