It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family mourns the sudden passing from this Earth of Gail Barker of Mineral Wells, Texas on July 20, 2023 at the age of 76 years.
Gail was born April 16, 1947 in Winslow, Arizona. She graduated from Weatherford High School and soon married her friend, love, and protector, Wendell Oren Barker on May 14, 1968 and they have been happily married for 55 years. She dedicated her life to being a remarkable mother to her daughter, Adena Gail Barker Weatherford, her son Wendell Ray Barker, and her grandchildren, the pride and joys of her life. She excelled at supporting her family to the greatest extent and would do anything for them. Gail was the biggest cheerleader of her children and grandchildren, who called her Nana, as well as all others who crossed her path. She wanted nothing more than for all of us to have the best life, one that surpassed her own.
Gail loved to love on people. She always looked for ways in which she could donate time, money, gifts, and love to those around her. Hugs were her favorite and she loved sharing her wisdom. There was nothing she would not give and there was nothing more important to her than her God and her family. When she was not filling her home with warmth and kindness, and creating lasting and precious memories of holiday times and special events, she had several interests. She enjoyed bookkeeping, reading, Bible study, worshipping her God in Heaven, nature, fishing, sports, supporting the 4-H and FFA clubs/chapters, and being wherever her family was. Though cooking was not her passion, she cooked delicious meals and desserts.
Gail will be deeply missed and her Earthly absence will leave an emptiness deep within our lives until our final days. However, her abundance of love and her willingness to give will live on through our hearts, and her memory and legacy will live on through the lives of the children, and their children, forevermore. Her spirit lives on with us all as strong today as it was any day before, and peace is found in the gaining of her wings and knowledge that we will see her again with complete healing in the arms of Jesus.
Gail will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Wendell Oren Barker; daughter Adena Gail Weatherford, and husband Garry; son Wendell Ray Barker, and wife Courtney; grandchildren Caeden & Caysen Barker, Trent and wife Kellie, Preston, & Harley Weatherford, Cole Patino and wife Melissa, and Kurstyn and husband Kolten Gonzales; nieces Kay Nowak and husband Eddie, Frances Ferguson and husband Toby, Kim Miller, and Kari Wilson; sister, Raylene Kainer; numerous great nieces and nephews and other family members and friends. Gail was predeceased by her parents, Lois Adelle Barber and Robert Vaughn Nelson; brother, Robert Nelson and sister-in-law, Brenda Lee Nelson; and an unborn child who she knew she would meet in Heaven. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
