Gary Dean Allen, born January 13, 1951 in Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026 surrounded by family. He was 75 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents Hawley Allen and Katherine Allen, his big sister, Linda Henley and husband Jim, son Michael and granddaughter Autumn Allen.
He leaves his wife, Linda Allen, daughters, Amanda Allen, Jennifer Hogue and husband Jarrod, granddaughters Isabella and Josephine, stepdaughter Catrice and husband Thomas and children Tomas and Sophia. Siblings, Terry and Brenda Allen, Russell and Elaine Allen, and Christy and Mike Blackwell. Also, two stepsons, John Hayes and wife Erika and Brad Hayes and his wife Michelle. John and Erika have 2 sons, Johnathan and Christopher and Christopher’s two children, Delilah and Madelyn. Many nieces and nephews. In fact, his family had over 70 members! Quite a large group!
Gary was a Rifleman in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War and served his time well. He was very proud of being a United States Marine! It also gave him his love of guns. He didn’t want to shoot them as much as just have them. When he realized, he wasn’t going to get well, he gave all of his guns to family members so they would have them.
Gary loved cars as a boy and was given his first car to rebuild when he was in junior high. He was strong enough to lift the front end of the car which impressed his baby sister and she remembers it to this day. He went to high school in Houston and then became a mechanic. This was his lifetime career, and when he moved to Mineral Wells, he opened Gary’s Auto & Truck. He helped many customers with repairing their vehicles and at a low cost. He couldn’t make himself charge what he really should have, which made him a favorite repairman!
Gary’s love for cars and drag racing led him to build and race his own car at various tracks in Houston. He loved it! Something else he loved was his dogs. He turned into a kid again when he was with his dogs, which was all the time at home. He leaves Boots and Shea to take care of Linda.
He married Teresa Allen and had his two daughters. Later in life, he married Linda Beavers Hayes (a retired teacher of 27 years) in Mineral Wells in 2003 and they did everything together; gardened, built things, fished, shopped, watched movies, and loved sitting on their front porch swing.
In 2025, he got sick with liver cancer that spread throughout his body and took his life. He still had things on his list to do but had prepared several processes at home to make things easier for his wife, Linda, to be able to do by herself. He was a big guy but had a tender heart and loved teasing and making people smile and laugh everywhere he went! He will be sorely missed by us all.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Baum Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 hour prior at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Woodland Park Cemetery.
