Gerald Baker Talkington, 74, passed away March 12, 2011 in a Fort Worth hospital. He was born February 11, 1937 in Dallas the son of Curtis Lavell and Gladys Maurine Baker Talkington. He married Patricia Dishman on May 1, 1976 in Ferris. He was a veteran of the Texas National Guard 49th Armory Division. He owned and operated the City Pride Car Wash for 25 years. He was a Baptist. He was a past Mayor of Ferris, was on City Council in Ferris, and was a past President of the Ferris Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Waxahachie Historical Board, the Ellis County Historical Board, the Greater Dallas South Association, and the Palo Pinto Historic Foundation. He was a charter member of the North Texas Region Classic Car Club, and a charter member of the Packard's North Texas Car Club. He was a founding member of the Brazos Foundation. He was a lover of old cars and was an avid reader. Graveside services will be 11 AM Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Ferris Memorial Park North Cemetery in Ferris. Visitation is from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife of 33 years: Pat Talkington of Mineral Wells, 2 nieces, and numerous cousins.
