Guadalupe “Lupe” Valtierra, 97, passed away on April 4, 2023 peacefully at home with his wife and family by his side.

Lupe was born on November 14, 1925, in San Marcos, TX, to Tirzo and Maria Valtierra.  He graduated from Weatherford High School.  He served in both the Navy and the Marines, in World War II, during the capture of Iwo Jima.  Lupe moved to Mineral Wells, TX in 1966.   He later retired from the Civil Service.   He then went on to work at The Man’s Shop and The Gentleman’s Closet.  After many years, he worked in a local alteration shop until he retired in his 80’s.  He coached many young men in baseball including his son and grandson. He loved fishing and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Lupe’s legacy will always be remembered as a kindhearted, generous man who made an impact on many people during his life.
