Inez Carter

Born 4/12/20 in Creston, La. to Elbert and Nancy (Wooley) Friday, Inez was the third child of ten. Her childhood was spent helping her father work the family farm. As the family grew, she learned gardening, cooking and sewing from her award winning mother. However, she never outgrew her love of the adventures of outdoor life. Her childhood skills expanded as she began her life as a dedicated wife. Inez and Alton Carter were married on 10/17/44. Their life joyfully added three children to the family. Charles Carter, Nora Ann Carter and David Carter. Sadly, Nora Ann died shortly after birth. More major changes followed the death of her beloved husband on 2/2/72. Inez relocated to San Angelo, TX. where she worked for Johnson and Johnson (Ethicon) until her retirement. Her adventures called her to move to Mason, TX to be closer to her sisters and provide care for her aging mother. The importance of being close to her boys' families led her to Mineral Wells in the 90s where she was blessed with a healthy, active life until a brief illness (one week before her death). GOD called her home on Easter Sunday at the age of 97. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alton, her baby Nora Ann and six siblings. Survivors include Charles and Martha Carter of Mineral Wells, David and Donna Carter of Garner; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three siblings - Leo Friday, Jean Avant and Elaine Eckert. She also cherished the friendship and companionship of a special little boy, C.J. Evans. The family will receive visitors at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells on April 18th from 6-8PM. A graveside will be held at St. Maurice Cemetery in Saint Maurice, Louisiana April 20 at 2PM where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. The family expresses sincere appreciation for the expert care of Holland Lake Nursing Center in Weatherford, TX. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Meals on Wheels of Palo Pinto in appreciation for the enormous support and dedication in maintaining a fulfilling life in the comforts of her own home.
