James ”Jim” Edward Dillard, Age 81, of Mineral Wells, Tx passed away on May 6, 2026 surrounded by loving family.
Jim was born July 15, 1944 in Taylor, TX, the son of Charlie Dillard and Dora Ellen Ford Dillard. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1962, and then on to Temple Junior College. He transferred as a junior to Texas A&M University, graduating in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Sciences. He was drafted in the Army in 1967 and served as an MP in Vietnam until honorably discharged in 1969. Jim worked for 40 years with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department where he served as a field biologist and later a technical guidance biologist.
He was an avid hunter, arrowhead collector, photographer, writer, naturalist and a proud Aggie. He enjoyed woodworking, being outdoors and raising native plants.
Remaining to cherish Jim’s memory are his wife Louise; their children, Andy Dillard and Karen Wilkerson, Alex Dillard and wife Anna, Ginger Dillard; grandsons, Tucker Dillard and Cayson Dillard.
