James Lynn Scarborough, 78, of Mineral Wells, passed away on December 30, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of deep love for his family, steadfast faith in Jesus, contagious joy, and genuine compassion for others. James was born on May 7, 1947, in Orange, Texas, to Cecil Scarborough and Faye Goss Scarborough. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Bobby Scarborough and Terry Scarborough, and grandchild, baby Eden. James devoted his life to faith in Jesus. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Baylor University and later received a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He faithfully served as a Southern Baptist minister and a Director of Missions, touching countless lives through his preaching, pastoral care, and Christ-centered example. James loved his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Vicki Scarborough of 53 years; his brother, Larry Scarborough and wife Connie; his daughter Cristy and her husband Rob Kleifgen, and their children Jak and Stella; his daughter Katie Beth and her husband Tony Vargas, and their children Anissa, Noah, Samuel, Judah Ben, and Lucy Ruth. He is also survived by his niece Sherry and her husband Jeremy Vincent, and their son Rusty, and his wife Ashley and their children Kinley, Brooklyn, Brielle, and Jackson; and their son Levi, and their daughters Malory and Paisley. James found joy in the simple blessings of life. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. He loved Jesus deeply, lived with compassion for others, and was known for his warm heart and wonderful sense of humor that brought comfort and laughter to those around him. James will be remembered as a faithful servant of Jesus, a loving husband and father, a proud grandfather, uncle, and a man whose life reflected grace, joy, kindness, and enduring faith. His family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their loving attention and care, and to the family members and care givers that cared for him so well.
