Jasper J.M. Liles

JASPER MARION LILES, Jr. (“J.M.”), of Mineral Wells, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at his home in Mineral Wells.
J.M. was born on February 17, 1942 in Mineral Wells to Jasper Marion Liles, Sr. and Mildred Aleene Liles. A graduate of Mineral Wells High School, he married his high school sweetheart and wife of 58 years, Wilma Lavonne Loftis on October 19, 1962.
He spent the early part of his career working as an air conditioning/heating technician, first for Hobson Electric in Weatherford, Texas, then for Choate Electric in Mineral Wells, from 1970 until 1982. He changed careers in 1982, joining Simms Lumber Company as a salesman and remained there until his retirement in 2007.
J.M. devoted a great deal of his free time to the Knights of Pythias fraternal organization. He joined in 1979 and served in various roles, including Chancellor Commander of the Mineral Wells lodge and was designated as a lifetime member of the lodge. He doted on his three granddaughters and enjoyed attending many of their events.
J. M. is survived by his wife, Wilma Lavonne Liles of Mineral Wells, his son, Douglas Liles of Fort Worth, Texas, his son, Eric Liles and his wife, Susan Liles of Fort Worth, and his grandchildren, Shelbie Liles, Lindsie Liles and Audrie Liles also of Fort Worth. He is also survived by his sister, Glenda Singleton of White Settlement, Texas, his brother, Wayne Liles and his wife, Norma Liles of Mineral Wells, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Billie Ruth Boyd and brother, Jerry Liles.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 30 at Elmwood Cemetery.
