Jimmy Seay, 84, died Sunday October 21, 2018 in Fort Worth, Texas. Visitation is scheduled Saturday morning October 27th from 11-12 at First Baptist Church, Mineral Wells, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., October 27th at First Baptist Church; burial will follow at Woodland Park Cemetery. Jimmy Seay was born in Jones County, Texas to Jesse James Seay and Louise Hagar Seay. He was raised on a farm with many chores tending to animals and crops. He accepted Christ as his savior as a young man. He married his high school sweetheart Shirley Jean Shelton and they were married 65 years. He graduated from Stamford High School and participated in all sports. He attended Sul Ross State University on a full ride football scholarship and later transferred and graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock with a degree in finance. He began his banking career in 1954, when he became assistant cashier at the Lubbock National Bank while attending Texas Tech University. Jimmy graduated from Tech with a finance degree in 1956 and continued his employment with the Lubbock bank until December 1959. The first day of 1960 Jimmy began his employment with the Comptroller of the Currency in Dallas, as assistant national bank examiner, a position he remained in until November of 1963. For the next 10 years, Jimmy served as executive vice president and director of the First National Bank of Floydada. He also served the community as their mayor and sat on numerous committees whose purposes varied from crime prevention programs to water district business. In 1967 Jimmy earned a graduate degree from the Southern Methodist University Graduate School of Banking in Dallas. In June of 1973 Jimmy moved his family to Mineral Wells where he became President and CEO of City National Bank where he remained until his retirement in November of 2001. Jimmy was very active in his community and many service organization and boards. He served as president of the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. He served as a director on the board the Mineral Wells Industrial Foundation, Palo Pinto Area Foundation, Woodland Park Cemetery. He served as director and trustee of the Palo Pinto County Livestock Association. He is also a former director of Palo Pinto County Municipal Water District. He served on the board of directors for the Sturdivant Progress Water Supply Corporation for many years. Jimmy is a former director of the Independent Bankers Association of America Legislative Committee. He is the former chairman of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas as well as a director and trustee of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas Bond Trust. He served for many years on the board of directors of the Board of Financial Interchange, Inc. (PULSE) in Houston. He also served as president of the Texas Municipal League in northwest Texas. And he served on the Board of Directors for Palo Pinto General Hospital. Jimmy was active member of First Baptist Church serving as a deacon, trustee, Sunday School teacher and on numerous committees. Jimmy loved to garden, raise cattle, and spent much time a horse back. A favorite pastime was spent hunting and fishing with family and friends. He loved Shirley more than anything in the world along with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Seay is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Seay; son Jimmy Dan Seay and wife Lorraine, son Bradley Alton Seay and wife Brenda; Grandson Rance Seay and fiancée Ashley Rau, Granddaughter Dr. Rachel Hunter and husband Dr. John Hunter, Granddaughter Breley Doyle and husband Trey, Grandson Bridger Seay; Great Granddaughters Emersyn Layne Doyle and Aubrey Doyle and many Brother in Laws, Sister in laws, nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sister.
