John Mark McDonald, 67, of Mineral Wells, Texas, passed away after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer on October 28, 2026.
Born January 20, 1959 at the old Nazareth Hospital in Mineral Wells, Texas to John Thomas McDonald and Wwellyn Wells, Mark grew up with a love for the outdoors spending many days at Possum Kingdom Lake and the Brazos River. Mark was very athletic and played for the Mineral Wells Rams, as well as adult softball and bowling leagues as a young adult. He graduated from Mineral Wells High School and worked as a Postman for the Mineral Wells Post Office. Later, he worked in the oil field and as a mechanic. Although his illness no longer allowed him to, Mark enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, and pretty much any activity. Mark had a kind and loving heart and could make friends anywhere he would go. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, friends and loved ones. Mark had a great love for animals and would often put his pet’s needs above his own. Mark did not require much to make him happy. He loved his family, pets, friends, Pepsi, the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Stars, Texas Rangers, Dallas Wings, and Westerns. He was also known for fixing anything put in front of him with a roll of duct tape and a smile.
Mark is survived by his children, Amanda Franklin and husband Michael, Blake McDonald and wife Chasity, Jodi Graue and husband Buckey; his grandchildren, Ethan Oliver, Audrey McDonald, Austin Jolly, Taelor McDonald, and Kingston Graue; his great-granddaughter, Emryn Oliver; his sister, Cheryl Glover; his nephew and niece, Matt Glover and wife Jennifer and Jaime Aparicio and husband Danial; and a wide circle of extended family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas McDonald and Wwellyn Adkins.
