Johnetta Louise Barnes

Johnetta Louise Barnes passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022. She was born October 5, 1942, in Evansville, Indiana, to John and Dorothy Tanner Harrison.

Johnetta was everyone’s Mema. She loved to dance to country music but especially loved her family and her dogs. She had the biggest smile and best heart ever; would do without so someone else could have what they needed. Johnetta also loved the Lord. As a child, she would walk to church by herself. She was a member of HighRidge Church Mineral Wells where she was baptized and loved the worship music. Johnetta was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Ross Harrison and his wife Barbara Ann; and her niece, Shelly Riggs. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her son, Jeffrey Vernon and wife Cheril; daughters, Kelly McGinnis and husband James “Bodie” and Cindy Vernon; grandchildren, Josh Barcklay, JJ Vernon, Justin Vernon and wife Caitlyn, and Kellci Baker; great-grandchildren, Yari Barcklay, Ivy Barcklay, Ian Vernon, Grace Vernon, Benjamin Vernon; brothers, Jimmy “Jay” Wayne Harrison and Billy Van Harrison and wife Rosanne; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2022 at HighRidge Church in Mineral Wells. Burial will follow at Perrin Cemetery.
