Joyce Vernell Spurlock

Joyce Vernell Walker Spurlock was born the fifth of seven children, on September 24, 1940, to Chester Edward Walker and Ida Emily Davis Walker. She married Lloyd Eugene Spurlock on January 21, 1955. They were together 57 years and reunited on April 6, 2026.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Melinda (Spurlock) Hayley of Santo; son, Tim Spurlock, Sr. of Mineral Wells; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; and her brother, Joe Walker (Nancy) of Santo.

Joyce was a friend to many and never met a stranger. She loved the Lord and took every opportunity to lead people to Jesus and pray for them. She enjoyed gardening, always raising large crops of vegetables, and tending to all the beautiful plants and flowers in her yard.

Some of her happiest times were cooking for people, hosting family and friends around her dining room table, making sure everyone got plenty.

Whether as mom, Mommie, Granny, Gigi, sister, aunt, or friend, she was greatly loved and will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
