Kenneth Claude Scott, 82, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025 in Mineral Wells, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Woodland Park Cemetery, Mineral Wells, Texas, 10 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2025.
Kenneth was born, April 15,1943, in the Nazareth Hospital in Mineral Wells, Texas. He graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1961 and attended Hardin Simmons University where he graduated with a BBA Degree with a minor in Economics. He met his wife Sharon in 1962 and married in 1963. Following college, he began work in the Finance and Accounting office at Fort Wolters, Mineral Wells, Texas, and upon its closure went to work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Fort Worth, Texas (USAED-SWF). In 1991 Kenneth accepted a position in the Contracting Division with USAED-Japan. He and his wife relocated to Camp Zama, Tokyo, Japan where they resided for almost 10 years. Kenneth returned to USAED- SWF (Fort Worth) where he retired in March 2001. He immediately went to work for the Fort Worth Transportation Authority as their Contract Administrator for the Trinity Railroad Express project (Commuter Rail Fort Worth to Dallas) until its completion.
He and his wife ultimately retired to Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Sharon Monette (Renfrow) Scott of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son, Cary Shea Scott and wife, Tracy Lynn (Stevens) Scott, of Mineral Wells, Texas; granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth (Scott) Barry and husband Brian Kelly Barry; and two great-grandchildren, Aria and Luke Barry.
Kenneth was preceded in death by both of his parents:
Kenneth’s father, Simpson Claude Scott Jr. (age 24), was killed in action “WWII”, during the 1944 Normandy invasion of France. He is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial located above Omaha Beach, Laurent Sur-Mer, France.
Kenneth’s mother, Sarah Francis (Ingram) Scott (age 59) passed away on July, 1984 and is buried in Woodland Park Cemetery, Mineral Wells, Texas. She was City Clerk of Mineral Wells Texas for 35 years.
Kenneth has remained a member of the First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells, Texas his entire life.
