"Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us." - Samuel Smiles
Krista Kay Cole of Mineral Wells Texas, proud and dedicated mother, Gigi, partner, daughter, sister, aunt, and devoted friend will be remembered for her courage, strength, and tenacity.
Krista was born on May 21, 1973 to Tom Barnes (Linda Barnes) and Mary Baker (Bernard Baker). Krista's greatest joy was her family. Krista made amazing lasting memories with the love of her life, Curtis Lawhorn, with whom she shared four children: Paris Monai Cole, Timothy Richard Lawhorn, Holdan Emry Cole, and Ely Cash Cole, and two grandchildren: Scarlet Fern Rosales and Layne Allen Lawhorn.
Krista was a phenomenal cook, with her coveted recipes all memorized, and she loved to thrift. Krista could be found on her front porch, where all friends were always welcome to stop by and visit. She always offered a supportive ear, or a story that would lift your spirits and make you laugh.
Krista passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025; never relenting to her battle with cancer. She will be so missed by her family and friends, those of you know; if you were her friend you were her family.
Krista is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Baker and step-father Bernard Baker. She is survived by her father Tom Barnes and Linda Barnes, her beloved partner Curtis Lawhorn, brothers: Gary Baker, Dave Baker, Steve Baker (Miriam) and sister Jamie Heft (James), children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Krista leaves behind many close friends, and loving friend and caregiver Tammy Johnson.
Services will be held on Friday February 7, 2025 at 10:00 am at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home at 302 W. Hubbard Street Mineral Wells, Texas 76067. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests donations be made in Krista's memory to Autism Speaks Inc. autismspeaks.org or to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance ocrahope.org
