Margaret Lillian Clemens

April 24, 1950 — March 19, 2022

Margaret Lillian (Manney) Clemens was the third of four children born to Jack and Margaret Manney on April 24, 1950, in Borger, Texas, where Jack was teaching at Borger High School. When Jack decided to change professions, the family moved to Wichita Falls, Texas. After a few years in Wichita Falls, Jack was transferred to Amarillo, Texas, where he continued his work as a civilian for the United States Air Force.  Margaret attended school in Amarillo, Wichita Falls, and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Midwestern University.

It was at Midwestern that Margaret met the man with whom she was to spend the rest of her life. Margaret and Ed Clemens were married on February 12, 1972, in Wichita Falls. Even though they moved to Mineral Wells after their marriage, it was not long before the newlyweds moved to Meridian, Mississippi for Ed's work. It was in Hattiesburg that their oldest son, David, was born. And it was in Mississippi where Margaret continued her studies at Mississippi State University, graduating with a Master's Degree in Social Work. Several years later, Ed and Margaret moved back to Mineral Wells where their daughter, Megan, was born.  They built a house on Cactus St. where they lived until they found a place in the country outside of Millsap for Marg and her many animals-dogs, cats, cattle, horses, donkeys, chickens, and any creature that came her way. She eventually became involved in horse racing and loved to travel to different tracks to watch horses that she owned or jointly owned run their races. During their 48 years of marriage, Margaret and Ed traveled many places, often taking their nieces and nephews with them. Family fondly recalls many funny stories about these travels. Margaret was always up for some adventure.

Margaret also loved children. Her home was always open to David and Megan's friends, nieces and nephews, and any young one who needed a place to stay or other special attention. She worked for many years for Child Protective Services, and for Lutheran Social Services. At one point in her career, she was honored by the Texas Foster Care Association as Worker of the Year for her work with foster families.

Margaret was surrounded by her grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Mallie, Andie, Jaxon, Emery, Hailey, Bailyr, Masin, and Liah. Her husband, Ed Clemens, passed away on June 24, 2020. In addition to her grandchildren, she is survived by her children and their spouses David Clemens and wife Stevie, and Megan Bowery and husband Waylon; her sister, Pat Brooks and nieces Amber Patrick, Cassie Brooks, and Taylor Hill and their families; sister-in-law Terri Sue Manney; nephew Heath Manney; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Peppie and Rick Cooper and their family; sister-in-law Susie McCarthy and her family, along with brothers-in-law Al Clemens and Kevin Clemens and their families.

Margaret passed from this life on Saturday, March 19, 2022, in Weatherford, Texas. She will be missed terribly by her family and many friends.
