Martha Jean Burleson

Martha Burleson, age 91, passed away on July 4, 2025. Martha was born in Mosheim, TX to Leroy Leach and Vernie Leach on June 12, 1934.

She was married to Darrell September 26, 1952. Martha and Darrell met when she was a senior at Northside High School in Fort Worth. Darrell worked for Western Electric at the time, and they traveled all over West Texas and New Mexico. They lived in several places in Fort Worth. In October of 1969 they moved to Oran, Texas and lived out their days there.

After Martha and Darrell retired, they spent a lot of time traveling. Martha was always up for traveling. They even got to travel to England where their son, Randy, was stationed in the Air Force.

Her favorite place to visit was Southfork, Colorado. She loved to take photographs of everything! She put together dozens of scrapbooks with pictures of their trips.

We are going to miss her terribly. The last several years have been very hard, but as we sat around her bed and witnessed her breathe her last breath, we were all comforted knowing that she is now with the Lord and basking in His glory. Love you mom. We will see you when we see you.

Martha is survived by brother Billy Hollingsworth and wife Jeanette, brother-in-law Dwight Burleson, children Donna, Randy and wife Helen, Clay and wife Becky, and her beloved grandchildren April Waters, Aaron Glidewell, Kandiss Redding, Jeremy Burleson, Lacee Burleson, Eric Burleson, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother Vernie Vera Linton Leach, her father Leroy Perry Leach, stepmother Oleta Leach, father-in-law William Aaron Burleson, mother-in-law Katie Bell Monk Burleson, brother Bobby Leroy Leach, sister-in-law Francis Hall Leach, husband William Darrell Burleson, sister-in-law Jeanette Burleson, niece Elisha Burleson, a grandson Stephen Burleson and nephew Kieth Hollingsworth. 

Services for Martha Burleson will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Graford Church of Christ with Billy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Oran Cemetery directly after the funeral in Oran, Texas.
