Mary Helen Stermer, beloved daughter of Albert and Jewel Scott, passed away January 29, 2026 at the age of 94. Mary came from a large and loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Stermer, brother Lawrence Scott (Betty), sister Vivien Elder (JC), twin sister Martha Ellen Nelson (Jack) and sister Betty Jo Hickey. Her remaining family miss her greatly and look back fondly at the time spent with her. Immediate survivors include son Raymond Crosier (Becky) and their sons Jason and Adam (Lindsay) and by her daughter Carolyn Crosier and her daughters Amanda Carter (Twea) and Amy Choudhary. She was also survived by great granddaughters Kara Beth Hartnagel and Sophia Choudhary.
Mary had many hobbies and careers in her lifetime. She worked as a waitress, a farmer, a teacher and an insurance agent. She loved country western dancing and cooking. Notable skills also included sewing and crafts. She worked in ceramics, macrame and made gorgeous quilts imbued with her love and care for her family. She loved plants and had a knack for making them flourish. Mary left a legacy by teaching others her skills, especially cooking and quilting.
Mary was known for her love of animals. She had many dogs, tropical fish and leaves behind her cat, Tabitha, who misses her greatly.
She touched the lives of her loved ones along with everyone who passed her way. Her life was well lived full of service to others that the Lord brought into her path. Even though we miss her, we are at peace knowing she has received her reward in our Lord's presence.
A special thanks to Carla Hay-Perdue and Maria Cantu whose care made it possible for Mary to remain in her own home for many years.
