Matthew "Matt" James Bowen

May 28, 1992 — October 30, 2023

Matt Bowen, 31, of Mineral Wells, Texas, passed away on October 30, 2023 after a hard fought battle to Cancer. He was born on May 28, 1992, in Weatherford, Texas.

Matt lived in Mineral Wells, Texas for most of his life. He graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 2010. After high school he joined his brother Dylan working for Keg 1 O’Neil as a delivery team. Later moving to the DFW area, to continue his career in Sales and Management at multiple beverage companies.

Matt could light up any room he walked into. He had a smile and a laugh that was contagious. He had the most caring and kind heart, and always went the extra mile to make others happy. There was never a day he put himself above anyone else, he was beyond generous. He was a very organized and particular person, we often called him a little “extra”. He loved his niece Kylee and nephew Kane beyond measure, like they were his own, and spoiled them to the ends of the Earth. He was the fun baby brother to his brother and sister. He loved his momma and daddy more than anyone could. There was no one more generous! He was the best son, brother, brother in law, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend that anyone could ask for. Just an all around amazing person in every aspect of life.

Matt was diagnosed with Large B Cell Lymphoma in early March 2023, and fought long and hard to beat it. We know that he is no longer suffering, God just needed him more. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him and loved him!

The Bowen family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Matt’s best friend LaShaunda Small for always being there to help take care of him every step of the way as he fought this battle. Someone who was there to give his family a break to go home, or go to work, she was always there to step in. We appreciate everything!

Matt is survived by his parents, James "Jimmy" and Mary Bowen; his sister Megan Cates and her husband Kyle; his brother Dylan Bowen; his niece Kylee Cates; his nephew Kane Cates; his grandmother "Meme" Linda Barnard; his grandmother Linda Newman; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and great friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Velda Bowen and Butch Newman.

Pallbearers are Dylan Bowen, Kyle Cates, JD Willis, Duane Horn, Drew Newman, Chase Villerreal, Colton Taylor.

Honorary Pallbearers are Kane Cates and Garrett Newman.
