On May 8, 2020, Melinda Smith received her wings. A lifelong resident of Mineral Wells, Texas, she spent her happiest years in a group home where her caretakers became family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all her Pecan Valley family who treated her like a princess.
She was born March 8, 1961 to Gordon Smith and Lola Dillin Smith into a family of 15 children, consisting of 9 brothers and 5 sisters where she was the baby of the family. She resided with her parents until their deaths.
She is survived by sisters Billie Howard of Fort Worth, Pat Brown and husband James, Debbie Lack and husband Larry, Sherry Robertson, and Loretta Davis, all of Mineral Wells. Surviving brothers include Milton Smith and wife Tjwanah of DeLeon, Jerry Smith, Buford Smith, and Larry Smith and wife Sherry, all of Mineral Wells. She has multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John Tom Smith, Clyde Smith, Lloyd Smith, Marvin Smith, and Carl Smith.
Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends are welcome to visit until services. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Staggs Prairie Cemetery in Mineral Wells.
