Nancy Ruth Steel

Nancy Ruth Stephenson Steel, 89, of Mineral Wells, passed away in the early morning hours of May 25, 2026 at Medical City Weatherford, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.

She was born on September 2, 1936, in Hannibal, Missouri, to Esther and Harry Stephenson.

Nancy married the love of her life, Roberto Samaniego, on August 18, 1953. Together they had three children: Steve Samaniego (Julie), Lisa Hoffman (Clyde), and Mark Samaniego (Theresa). After Roberto was killed in Vietnam, Nancy was fortunate enough to find love again and later married Robert Steel on May 30, 1970. Together, Nancy and Robert raised a blended family that included Nancy’s three children and Robert’s daughter, Marcy Adams (Tim).

Nancy found joy in life’s simple pleasures — shopping, adventures with friends, and spending time with her loved ones. She never met a stranger and lit up every room she walked into. Her vibrant spirit and loving heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her three children, step-daughter, twelve grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Roberto Samaniego and Robert Steel, and her parents.

The family is deeply grateful for those who rallied together to provide care, help, and comfort over the last few months.

Graveside services will be 10 AM Thursday 6/4/2026 at Staggs Prairie Cemetery.
