Patricia Newberry Huitt

May 6, 1931 — April 24, 2022

Patricia Newberry Huitt, born May 6th 1931, was reunited with her parents, JC and Mable Newberry, on Sunday April 24th, 2022. We know that she was dancing through the pearly gates with the sound of country and western music playing, Texas wildflowers were abundant, mockingbirds and blue jays were flying, and the loves of her life were welcoming her at the gates of heaven. The trumpets were sounding, Pat is home.

Pat descended from a prominent pioneer family that came to Parker County in the mid- 19th century before settling outside of Millsap around 1859. The cabin that she was raised in is now located at the Doss Heritage and Cultural Center in Weatherford for others to explore. She was so proud to be able to share her childhood home with her community. Pat would often talk about her time in this home and the wonderful childhood that she was blessed with, she lived through the great depression and although they did not have much, they did have each other. Pat spent most of her days outside tending to the animals and received her first horse at the age of two. She learned at a young age to love her land, to love animals, to love your family and to be grateful for what you have.  Pat was a strong woman and she did not adhere to the social boundaries that were prevalent in her time; she pushed limits, she was a successful CPA and owned her own company, she ran cattle with her Daddy just as her family had done on the same land since the 1850’s,

Patricia Newberry Huitt is survived by her loving daughters, Melinda Cosper, Patricia Sue and Jim Wright, Jean-Anne and Gary Cheatham; grandchildren, Jason and Emily McDonald, Jacey and Stephen Storm, Ashley and Tom Crowder, Blakeney and Talmage Hodges, William Cosper, Jenna and Jonathan Griffiths, Kevin and Amy Wright, Vicki and Jeff Bradley, Kristi and Jeryl Brixey, Brandi and Hailey Wright, Tosha and Dave Coleman, Shelli and Ty Devereaux; numerous great-grandchildren and countless friends that she considered family.  She will be missed greatly.

Patricia's Funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Newberry Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Newberry Cemetery.
