Patsy Paullett Polly Grimes

Patsy Paullett Grimes, 69, known to many as Paullett or Polly, passed from this world peacefully at her home in Garner on May 23, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born June 17, 1956, in Holbrook, Arizona, the second daughter of JP and Mary Jo Hodgson, younger sister of Carroll. Paullett grew up and lived in the small town of Joseph City, Arizona, near Winslow.

In Arizona, she gave birth to her first son, Porter Hodgson, before moving to Texas. There she met, and later married, Alan Grimes. They settled in Garner, where they grew their new family, welcoming two more sons, Dakota Grimes and later Levi Grimes. Alan passed away in 2013. Paullett later reconnected with Terry Cohron. She spent her remaining years with Terry, and together they raised Terry’s granddaughter, Maci Padilla, until her passing.

Those who knew Polly knew her to be particularly strong-willed and, at times, blunt, but there was no better person to have in your corner; she was kind, strong, and loving. A lover of animals, Paullett spent her life raising all sorts of animals, such as her beloved boxer, Cracker Jack. Paullett had a particular fondness for those animals that others were quick to label “lost causes” and move on from. In her life, she nursed many animals back to health. These animals would often become her babies and live long, spoiled lives.

Above all else, Paullett was a loving mother. She loved her children fiercely and would do anything to protect them or help them on their journeys. Her love for her children was truly selfless; she always put their needs above her own and would protect them to the ends of this earth.

Paullett is survived by her partner, Terry Cohron, and her children, their families, and her grandchildren: Porter Hodgson and his wife, Kayla, and their children, Jackie, Kaylin, and Austin; Dakota Grimes and his wife, Brieanna; her youngest son, Levi Grimes; and Maci Padilla. She is also survived by numerous cousins and nephews.

Paullett was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary Jo and JP Hodgson; her husband, Alan Grimes; her sisters, Carrol Whitehead and Gail Jones Tillman; her niece, Carrie Wice; and a daughter-in-law, Ashley Andrews.
