Ray Alan Yowell

Oceans could not hold the tears of sorrow with the passing of our Papa, Ray Alan Yowell; however, we can only imagine the shouts of pure joy that passed from his lips upon waking in the presence of his Savior. Once in a lifetime, a truly gentle soul walks the earth for a short while. He was a mainstay in the South Side Church of Christ, a pivot point in his family, and a friendly smile to his friends.  He was a coach to many youth, a mainstay to his grandchildren, and a dedicated cornerstone to his great grandchildren. On any given day, one could find him taxiing children, playing Santa, treasure hunting his favorite haunts, or finding bargains at the local auctions. With a silly grin he would bless those in need with his finds and simply state "I'll put it on your tab." and wrap you in a hug.

On February 5, 2020, Ray started his new life with his parents and sister beyond the pearly gates. He will be terribly missed, by his loving wife, Linda Yowell; his sons Alan and spouse Joy, and Kenneth and his earthly legacy of 7 grandchildren, Joshua and wife Allison, Trent and wife Raini, Russell and wife Erica, Autumn and husband Anthony, Jacqueline, Dillon, and Makenna.  That story continues with 13 great grandchildren deeply loved and adored.

The void will ease with time, the days will spread into weeks, months, and years, but the memories will remain fresh in our minds and hearts.  We have watched this compassionate, caring, selfless man teach us to be humble, loyal, and a true gentleman. He has lived his life as his Creator has directed and led his family with Christlike grace.

Please come honor his life Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 10am at Southside Church of Christ in Mineral Wells.  Visitation will be held Friday, February 7, 2020 from 5 to 7 pm at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells, Texas.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the youth programs at Southside Church of Christ.
