Rhonda Wyleen Wilkinson passed away on January 14, 2026 at the age of 67.
Rhonda was a lifelong and proud Texan. She spent her life forging a fierce and independent spirit, which fits right in around here.
Rhonda was born to Shirley and McAllen Ray on November 13, 1958. She had three siblings - David Ray, Reba Beard and Nelda Eason. The Ray girls grew up in South Fort Worth, where they explored on horseback, played pranks, and got into as much trouble as they could find. Rhonda would spend days on her horse Strawberry, developing a love for the outdoors, a taste for adventure, and a lifelong bond with horses.
She was a loving mother to her four sons: James Ray, Cody Wilkinson, John Bain and Jesse Wilkinson. The boys were the lucky beneficiaries of her legendary cooking skills. Even when the pantry was sparse, she would make incredible meals that the whole family (and sometimes the neighbors) enjoyed. The family would spend evenings listening to Southern rock and red dirt country.
Rhonda met her husband Eddie Wilkinson in Livingston, Texas, in 1986. They were married in 1988 in a hand-built church just off of Highway 190. During their 37 years of marriage, they lived in many Texas towns and even spent time on the open road. They shared a love for music and would sing and dance together under the Texas night sky. They eventually settled down in Mineral Wells. She quickly fell in love with the small community, where she developed a passion for supporting local businesses and participating in local politics. She proudly strategized with Randy Nix, her mentor, on the best ways to support progress for Mineral Wells and its citizens.
Rhonda deeply loved helping people. This desire was the common thread that tied together her many efforts in life. Whether she was tending to her local businesses, S&S Auto and Diesel, growing healthy food in her garden, or looking after her beloved dogs and cats, she was always acting out of love and service to others.
Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Reba. She is survived by her husband, her four sons, and her three grandchildren Dimitri Ray, Leyton Bain and Everett Bain.
Her many friends and loved ones love her very much and miss her dearly.
