Richard “Dickey” DeLaughter, 80, of Graford, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15th, 2025.
Richard was born April 7, 1945, in Laredo Texas, and raised in Texarkana Texas by his parents William “Bill” DeLaughter and Darlene Brunson DeLaughter. Richard graduated from Texas High School in Texarkana, TX and thenwent on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington. His dedication, sharp eye and attention to detail led to a very long and successful career in commercial printing, where he made many lifelong friendships. Richard was also a proud member of the Sons of The American Revolution Texas Society and the National Huguenot Society.
Richard is survived by his two brothers, Eric “Van” DeLaughter and wife Patricia of Lantana, TX, Donald “Don” DeLaughter and wife Harriet of McKinney, TX. His sons Richard “Rick” DeLaughter and his wife, Cari, of Hindsville, AR, Jeffery “Jeff” DeLaughter and his wife, Mary, of Little Elm, TX, Bradley “Brad” DeLaughter of Dallas TX, and Christian DeLaughter of Justin, TX and his “adopted” sonMichael Kennedy and daughter, Emma, of Waxahachie TX. His Grandchildren Brooke, Karina, Jenna, Janna, Colton and Wyatt.He was also looking forward to the arrival of his granddaughter, Macy, in February.
Richard was a man known for his charisma, warmth, and the easy smile that made everyone feel welcome. Outside of work, Richard found his greatest joy on the Brazos River with a fishing pole in hand alongside his sons and grandchildren, teaching them all the fisherman’s secrets his father taught him.Richard also had a passion for his family’s history.
A devoted father, Richard cherished every moment spent with his four sons. Whether he was telling stories, teaching life’s small lessons, or simply being present with his friends and family, he created memories that will be held close in our heartsforever.
Richard’s legacy is one of love, humor, resilience, and the deep connections he built with the people around him. He will be remembered for the kindness, his stories, his laughter and his unwavering love for family.
A celebration to honor Richard’s life will be held at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
