Robbie Kate Pierson

Robbie Kate Pierson, 95, passed from this life on June 29, 2024. She was born on a dairy farm in Cisco, Texas on July 27, 1929 to Elmer and Drusilla Berry. As she grew up, she worked alongside her family on their dairy farm. She could “never grow pretty fingernails because milking cows and fingernails don’t go together.” After high school she attended Texas Women’s University. A bus came to the University on graduation day to hire and transport any and all the teachers they could talk into going with them…Robbie got on that bus and began an amazing career in education.

She became a teacher in Corpus Christi, then a principal. She served in the Corpus Christi School District for 46 years. During this time, she met and married Bill, who was a tax accountant for South West Oil. They married on August 19,1959.

Robbie gave up her job as principal and wrote a program called Trainable Mentally Retarded, or TMR, that was used by TEA throughout Texas for many years. She was instrumental in establishing the Robert Wilson School in Corpus Christi where Downs Syndrome students took part in her program called, “Move, Grow & Learn.” These students ranged in age from 3 to 21 years and resided in dorms on campus. At the end of their education, the school worked with local businesses to find these young people jobs and residences.

In 1998, after retiring, Robbie and Bill moved to Mineral Wells. They enjoyed camping and traveling throughout the United States. Robbie was an avid bowler and even competed in a tournament in Mexico City.

Robbie was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Wednesday Bible Study Club, Mineral Wells Woman’s Club, and Palo Pinto County Retired Teachers Association.

Robbie is survived by her 2 children, Carol Holley and husband Andy of Redman, Washington, and her son, Barry of Pilot Point, Texas. She has two grandchildren, Andrea and Kim Holley of Redman, Washington. Four sisters, Malba Steagall of San Angelo,Texas, Phyllis Graham of Cisco, Texas, and Carolyn Little of Ballinger, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robbie Pierson was a loving, kind, and generous lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the funeral on July 10th. The funeral service will be at 2:00PM, Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells, Texas. The burial will follow at Woodland Park Cemetery in Mineral Wells, Texas.
