Robert "Bob" Oliver Hughes

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Oliver Hughes on May 18, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born on March 24, 1940, in Gordon, Texas, to Ulys Hughes and Edna Hedburg. Bob served in the US Navy for 4 years after graduating high school. He later retired from the Water Plant in Mineral Wells after 25 years. He was a long-time member of St Mark Lutheran Church. Throughout the years, Bob enjoyed square dancing and volunteering with the Vietnam War Museum in Mineral Wells, and he even helped with building it.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Pamela Jones and husband Richard; son, Robert Scott Hughes; brothers, Bernie Hughes, Don Pfeifer, Bill Pfeifer and wife, Rose, and Doug Pfeifer; grandkids, Joshua Kessler and wife, Stephanie, Jeremy Kessler, Joseph Kessler; nephews, Bill Pfeifer Jr and wife, Tanya Pfeifer, Jason Pfeifer; and long-time friend and companion, Betty Massey.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Pfeifer and her husband, Jake; father, Ulys Hughes; sister-in-law, Kay Pfeifer; nephew, TJ Pfeifer.

The family would like to express our gratitude to Lakewell Court and Beyond Faith Hospice for the care of our father Robert O. Hughes, also known to everyone as “Bob”.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Chapel, allowing friends and family to reflect upon the memories they shared with Bob. A funeral service will take place on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Following the service, Bob will be laid to rest at Woodland Park Cemetery.
