Robert Lee Bond (Robbye), of Mineral Wells, passed away on March 3, 2026 after a lengthy illness. He was born June 22, 1956 in Abilene, TX to Reita Barton Bond and Leslie Dean Bond, Sr. He was the youngest of four children. He is preceded in death by his siblings: Karen Ann Bond, Leslie Dean Bond, Jr. and Charles Rodney Bond, and his niece, Stephanie Nicole Bond Dahl. His family moved to Irivng, TX where he attended school, and later settled in Mineral Wells. He was a proud graduate of the Mineral Wells High School Class of 1974.
Robbye retired in 2012 after a 35 year career in administrative and budget analysis positions for the Dallas regional office of the Environmental Protection Agency. After retirement, he came home to Mineral Wells after living 40 years in the Metroplex, calling Grand Prairie his home for 35 of those years.
Robbye enjoyed people and brought happiness to those around him with his positive life outlook, his quick wit, and infectious laugh. Nothing pleased him more than to be of service to others. He served as the Treasurer for the Friends of the Boyce Ditto Library, and loved his deliveries for Meals on Wheels. He was also past secretary for Hope, Inc. Women’s Shelter, the past treasurer for the Grand Prairie Arts Council. He served his faith communities of St Michael the Archangel, Grand Prairie, and St. Luke’s, Mineral Wells as lector, acolyte, and Eucharistic Minister. He loved teaching Faith Formation classes to the children of St Michael’s Church.
When he was not busy helping others, Robbye was involved in making greeting cards and hosting card classes for others to learn the craft. He also enjoyed playing Keno and Bunco with classmates and friends and spending time with his nieces. Robbye enjoyed the holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas, and was legendary for his memorable interior and exterior holiday displays.
Robbye is survived by companion Marcey Guthrie, niece Paige Kuhne (Dylan), and four great- nieces: Sabine Kuhne, Pearl Kuhne, Cheyenne McErlane, and Piper Dahl. He will be missed greatly by all those who knew him and loved him.
A funeral service is scheduled for Robbye on March 25th at 10:00 and St. Luke’s Church, Mineral Wells. Interment of ashes will follow at Woodland Park Cemetery in Mineral Wells.
